Get to know our expert interns!

Think Round Inc.’s virtual Center for the Human Family has been made possible thanks to the efforts of a global community of interns contributing their skills and expertise. In this article we explore how they have managed to work together effectively, what makes the project unique and what inspires our interns.

Combining art and technology

The project to create the virtual Center for the Human Family is innovative in terms of its scope, ambition and the skills needed to deliver a robust and user-friendly platform. Our interns are experts in fields such as UI/UX design, full stack development and generative AI prompting. As Divya, working on the Art Center and External Spaces put it, “This project is different because it blends art, culture, and community with technology, focusing on creating an inclusive and human-centered digital space.” The interns therefore benefit from the chance to hone their skills through this work, as they troubleshoot solutions to complex development challenges.

International collaboration

People as far apart as Nigeria, Syria and of course the USA work cohesively together in small close-knit teams to develop different elements of the site. By collaborating in a multidisciplinary team and sharing diverse perspectives, our interns can learn from each other and create more innovative and impactful designs. As Architectural renderer Wen says, “I have learned the importance of collaboration and adaptability in a dynamic project environment.”

Each team works on their different project areas, checking in with each other on different collaboration tools, and all interns come together online in a weekly meeting to give an update on their latest developments. This way of working enables all contributors to have a good understanding of the scope and quantum of the project as a whole, and their place within it, and the ability to give helpful input on different areas of the site to ensure a cohesive user experience.

Developing with purpose

The interns are inspired by Think Round’s unique purpose, giving them the ability to use their skills to make a meaningful contribution to something with real social impact. As Khaled, working on Generative AI, explains, “The opportunity to be part of such a vital and unique project attracted me, especially since it promotes a deep understanding of an organization striving for positive change.”

The interns are passionate about working on a project where they believe in its mission, driving them to deliver their best. As Zeel, a full stack developer, puts it “I’ve learned the importance of aligning my work with my values and how fulfilling it can be to contribute to a project that aims to make a positive difference in the world.”

We offer our thanks to our many interns who have contributed to the virtual Center, enabling us to deliver the version being shared in October.
