About the Exhibition
Marc Ellen Hamel’s CALIFORNIA ROAMING offers an intimate, abstracted view of Northern California’s natural beauty. Drawing from moments spent walking through forests and meadows, gazing into distant horizons, and taking in vibrant fields during road trips, Hamel transforms these memories into colorful, intuitive paintings.

The works capture a deeply personal connection to the land, offering reflections on how wandering through nature nurtures the spirit. In her studio at the Hunters Point Shipyard, where she has worked for over 30 years, Hamel revisits these experiences, creating vibrant abstractions that echo the wilderness, stillness, and movement of the landscapes she loves. “Walking through the land has nurtured me,” Hamel shares. “When I’m back in the studio, I apply colors and brushstrokes intuitively, letting memories resurface to guide the work. It’s a process of reflection, connection, and storytelling.”
California Dreaming: A Journey Through Memory (Time) and Place (Space)

As part of Marc Ellen Hamel's exhibit California Roaming, Think Round Fine Arts proudly presents a selection of graphite drawings by gallery founder Heidi Hardin. These works transcend traditional artistic expression, capturing an intensely personal yet universally resonant journey shaped by the Harmonic Convergence in Big Sur in 1987—a moment of profound transformation that bridged Heidi’s inner exploration with the larger rhythms of the cosmos.

Heidi’s drawings, rich with enigmatic text and imagery from Jose Arguelles' The Mayan Factor, intertwine with drawings of herself, her friends, her family, and the outdoors along the Big Sur River, which she photographed while living at the River Inn. These drawings create a more extensive dialogue about humanity’s connection to time, place, and the natural world. Paired with Marc Ellen Hamel’s evocative abstract landscapes, these works create a dynamic interplay of memory, intuition, and resilience, reflecting on California as a crucible for healing, exploration, and the pursuit of deeper understanding.

Together, Marc Ellen’s paintings and Heidi’s drawings honor the enduring power of art and science to illuminate our shared journey through spacetime. This collaboration is a celebration of friendship and a testament to the capacity of creative expression to transcend boundaries and foster connections across the personal and universal.
